FAQ: Lessons with Elias

  • This can be very individual from student to student based on your goals. The basic structure of a standard lesson usually includes:

    • Warm ups, vocal and physical, tailored to the particular skills we’d like to work on together

    • Working on repertoire, either set by the student or provided in-lessons.

    • Addressing the technical and stylistic challenges of the piece, and readying it for performance.

    • Discussing a student’s development, and their aims ahead of our next lesson.

In addition to working on a solid vocal technique, we can incorporate tutoring on other skills that will enhance your abilityt as a musician and performer, including:

    • Theory and musicianship

    • Sight-singing and aural skills

    • Harmony and analysis

    • Composition consultation

    • Music history and musicology

  • I’m open to students of all ages and stages, and will create an individualised programme of learning for you based on your goals, whether they’re:

    • Preparing for an audition or examination

    • Perfecting a particular piece ahead of a performance

    • Building confidence in your voice for the future

    • …or just to support your love for singing!

If you’re interested in lessons for your child, I recommend lessons for children aged 6 and over, as children younger than this can have difficulty concentrating during lessons. For this reason, I would also be happy to discuss shorter lesson times based on age (e.g. 30 minutes for primary students, 45 minutes for secondary students, and 60 minutes for adults).

  • I teach out of a home studio in Wentworth Point, a suburb next to Rhodes and Sydney Olympic Park.

if you would like me to come to you (within Sydney) to teach, this may be negotiable with an additional fee for travel.

I also offer lessons online via video-link - I’d be happy to discuss your individual circumstances to determine what will work best for you.

  • I offer lessons in 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute blocks, and charge a rate of $40 per half-hour.
